The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste is my favorite. Also, this album is atrocious and I pretend it doesn't exist.

Good review. I've never bothered with this era of Ministry (I think I heard "Every day is Halloween" on a Cleopatra Records compilation once, though).

Thanks, Willie. You have a great name. If you didn't dig Halloween, there's probably not much on this album for you. It's interesting (and kind of funny) to hear where it all began, though.

To be honest, I was on the fence about which Ministry I preferred myself for a while. Overall, I think I'd have to go with industrial Ministry, but Revenge off this album might be my overall favorite song of theirs.

Very good review. I'm a Ministry fan and I appreciate 'With Sympathy' to an extent however the reviewer was dead on with 95% of that. It is a Frankenstein of an album and I'd want to forget it because 'Effigy' is the only track vaguely resembling Al's style.

Listen to this just to say you did, then move on and enjoy 'TWITCH'.

Album isn't very good as a whole, but the single "Revenge" is fucking KILLER and among the best synthpop or new wave singles of the era IMO. Like I'd put it up there with some of Ministry's best work. So ridiculously catchy.

Ok, I not sure if this reviewer understands the timeframe that this came out. I saw Ministry perform this album at a small club in 1984. Al came out on stage wearing a skirt, with long hair and at the time was way progressive. We were all blown away by what we were seeing and hearing.
This is probably THE best synth pop record of that era and is really a record to be proud of because it was one of the forerunners of that music.
Sure its cheesy. Who cares? "Love Me Do" is a goofy Beatles song but they are considered one of the best bands ever.
I love this album. It still holds up, the hooks kick ass, and you can dance to it.
Come on over for some wine coolers and have some fun.

Revisiting this again, and yep, "Revenge" is still one of the catchiest synthpop songs ever.

ok i think you need to lay off the drugs if you think what he was doing was any bit ground breaking... some perspective: Depeche Mode did what he did 3 years prior, by 1983 they moved onto darker more serious electronic songs with an industrial tinge to them. New Order also released Blue Monday (and Power Corruption, Lies) around this time which was a hundred times more ground breaking then With Sympathy. Al was perfectly in the times, this was nothing ground breaking....and this was obviously a way for a starving artist to try and get some cash. he sold out at the beginning and he knows it damn well!

Twitch is my favorite Ministry and I liked the early non-album singles too, but what the actual fuck happened with this album?

I expected this to sound like "Cold Life" and "(Every Day Is) Halloween" which are both songs I like, but nope.

It wasn't even just that it was cheesy or generic, it was just poorly written in general.
