"fairly dull"
This I can't understand. This record evokes quite some feelings in me.
Final Touch/Hidden Agenda is near perfect.

Anyone here heard the remixed/remastered version of this? I can't tell if it's made it better or
ruined it : /

The guy who produced the latest, and Mourning Golden Morning has done both their first two records. I actually really dislike what he's done after a few listens though...
I can only find them digitally, on iTunes/Googlemusic ect.

well the first two albums had a really nice warm feel to them. everything since then has sounded quite cold and metallic. does the remastering reflect that?

The remaster boosts the drums and makes everything sound 'bigger'. That sounds great and all, but the drums start overpowering things, the kick pedal actually distorts and it all sounds a bit 'metal' if that makes sense.
It was mixed by someone from Cult of Luna so that might explain it.
Misinform the Uninformed is a completely new song after remixing, and the two shorter songs are a bit better, but the subtle nuances of the longer songs are lost in the mix and in the climaxes the drums make it sound like it could break out into a post-metal riff at any moment.
Yeah I just don't like it tbh

say what you like about mourning but god damn it had its moments, sons of ghosts and longing for colours are both wonderful
|

yeah totally agree about the drums with the remaster. is a shame because a lot of it is more clear and like you said, bigger sounding
which i like. but the drums are a little overpowering. doesn't fit the sweet and endearing style of the music on this album.
edit: shit the bed the vocals on hello scotland sound completely different. rerecorded maybe? the vocal section of that song is the
best moment of Ef's career. im not sure how i feel about it now.

Yeah it sucks because it could have been amazing. All the parts that needed fixing were fixed but the guy who mixed it messed with stuff that didn't need changing and now there still isn't a definitive version of this!

This sure is a nice hangover album.
