Here are some of my must have ambient stuff (Eno is excluded too much discography!):Eluvium - Copia or Talk Amongst The Trees.

Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Vol. II and Selected Ambient Works 85-92 are fantastic.

Port Blue's - The Airship

The Flashbulb's Soundtrack To A Vacant Life is solid, but a bit overrated over here, still worth checking out though.

Finally you need to check out the definitive work of William Basinski's The Disentegration Loops I-IV, 4 seperate albums, 5 hours of material meant to be listened continuously. Its just superb.

Forgot about Tim Hecker. His last album Imaginary Country is fantastic, but I prefer his other work Harmony In Ultraviolet. Enjoy!

(Post from another one of my reviews [Lions] asked for ambient recs

new Sunn O))) and new Natural Snow Buildings (6 hours, take that! ^^) are also awesome. and the ambient stuff by Coil is great as is pretty much everything from Bohren & Der Club of Gore (which are doom jazz or something but whatever). and Steven Wilson's Bass Communion project is nice as well.

Sir, yes sir! Quite astonishing, I'm listening to the III Disintegration Loops and the quality is extremely noticeable on the first track. It breaks apart so easily and you hear the light choppiness in the background.

I'm thinking III is the weakest of what I've heard so far. You said dlp 6 was the best track of all of them. dlp 3 is by far my favorite, but I'll see about Loops IV. III isn't as mesmerizing as I (since it follows the same type of walkthrough). If I listened to these all the way through I'm sure III would sound magnificent since it does show how the material itself is degrading right before your ears.

FINE it's a complexion of a single chord shattered across 4 octaves

on my first way through the series and I must say, dlp 3 is truly one of the most beautiful ambient pieces I've ever heard. And also massiveattack, you do need to check out Meloncholia; it's on par with this, just way more compact.
