Christians doing a melodeath/prog thing over a metalcore base?

The whole idea seems awful to begin with.

I actually really like this album but good review nonetheless.

I guess I was hoping Dev would show his face on here like he did on Lamb of God's As the Palaces Burn, where he played guitar on one of the tracks.

Oh well. It's a shame that he has put SYL aside to put forth shoddy work like this.

Yeah, I listened to all of their sample songs, and none of them impressed at all. (the ones they kept releasing)

It's not a matter of bad, it's a matter of "bland". It's lifeless. It sounds like they didnt even want to record it. And yeah, within reason I liked their other releases as well.

for me bland metal = bad as a result of its being boring

all aboard the hate bandwagon! the comments are night and day between this and the other review. You slam like no other Cocaine, but my favorite is still your review for the last The Human Abstract album. I'm going to try and read that one again without pooping myself

Glad to see you reviewing some good ol' metal again.

Lazy and uninspiring, this is Wal-Mart's interpretation of progressive metal.

I couldn't agree more. I even found The Physics of Fire to fit that description as well. Good review.

Calling the vocals lifeless on this album is just an idiotic statement. I could understand saying that about Physics of Fire, but not here.

I'm not saying they aren't lifeless at times, but I think they're much improved overall and downright passionate at times.
