discog walk; fun album, pretty good, "The Raging Season/Absinthe And rue/Rapture Or Pain" are very good. Unstable vocal control but tremendous instrumentation part. rate bump.
It's not the best but it's a good debut. [2], agreed with Casavir

I do feel this one is slightly underrated. Not great by any means imo, but it's certainly better than the goddamn 1.5 Allmusic gave it, lol

This is the issue with me always (or at least trying to) listen to a bands discography front to back, debuts can be *very* hit or miss.

too many debuts are compared against a sound that a band developed after many years of making music. the energy on debuts is something that is usually lost as time goes on and i find myself very drawn to debut albums for that reason. bands also have much more sophisticated recording equipment and a lot of people can't see beyond production quality, so i think many debuts are unfairly maligned. i love starting with a band's first album and seeing how their sound develops.

"i love starting with a band's first album and seeing how their sound develops."
That's why I love to start from the beginning as well. But in this case, man this is rough. Rod could not sing. At All. I've already started the second album and so far it is a massive improvement.

eh, vocals in metal can't really lessen the experience for me in 99% of cases. though they can elevate the experience if they're good
