This album surpasses Damaged in the songwriting department. Killer Sabbath-esque riffing, passionate vocals, and the wildest, most fucked up solos you will ever hear.
My War showcases the band's diversity; A trend which would continue until they broke up. Side A has some resemblance to the hardcore classic 'Damaged,' but it's more riff-oriented with avant-garde soloing. Side B according to the 'fans' is where the band sold out. Those so called 'fans' are fucking clueless. Side B goes fucking HARD. It has all the intensity and aggression Flag is famous for, but with the tempos slowed way down. Those last 3 songs have some disturbing lyrics, anti-melody soloing, and grinding, dissonant riffs. Side B basically opened the doors for Slugdge Metal.
There is no question that this album contains Henry's best vocal work. He goes off like a rabid dog, putting all his emotion into the songs and delivering the most agonizing screams... The vocal performances of 'Swinging Man,' 'Forever Time', 'Three Nights,' and 'Scream' are unmatched by any punk vocalist.
Those first 6 songs will assault your ear canals, while the last 3 will drown you.
Essential record. My personal favorite.
