idk this album is just mediocre to me. Idk my first impression of it was pretty bad hearing the cliche old guy making statements about life and death and the second song with its equally trite lyrics. idk if its fair for me to say its bad though, it just doesnt have any real emotional pull or power to me, just sounds average, i can't understand all the praise for it right now

Ganglion and Dummy are my most listened to albums of all time. Amazing stuff. It really shocks me that more people aren't aware of Saltillo.

This sounds A LOT like Emancipator's debut but I'm loving the stringed influence on this

Just listened to it. Marvellous. Electronic music keeps getting more and more rewarding.

I'd suggest going with

Vangelis - Bladerunner Soundtrack / The City (more electronic, melodic stuff, but with great atmosphere)

Igorrr and Ruby My Dear - Maigre (skratch and electronic bρeaκs, with classical music)

Ulver - Perdition City (electronic, ambient, jazz, less organic than Saltillo, but incredibly dark)

Emancipator - Soon it will be Cold Enough (trip hop, mostly, but with nice vibes)

Take also a look on Proem - Socially Inept. More breaks and skratches, but still an excellent album. Very interesting, even for me, that I don't usually listen to such music.

Well for me Portishead is overrated. I tried "Dummy" but I just don't feel that album.

I like other trip-hop artists more for example Amon Tobin, Tricky, Massive Attack, Emancipator, Doctor Flake and Saltillo.

It's about time I got back to listening to Ganglion and the darker Monocyte. Haven't listened to them for years.

edit:

oh I see someone mentioned Ulver - Perdition City, also a great album.
