Nobody mentioned that Opeth hail from Sweden which I find quite funny.

These guys were at Hellfest 2007 but I was far too tired to go and check them out. They sounded okay from what I could hear even though this isn't really the kind of metal I'd listen to.

Excellent review balls. Your points are very clear and well written. Just one little grammatical error:

A classical influenced piece of music. Epic, haunting, and great.

I think you mean 'classically'.
You've intrigued me about these guys. I will add this to my list of check-outs.

I missed that, thanks. This is a pretty cool album althought it might take a bit of time.

I love the grower albums. They are the ones that will be listened to for the rest of my life...ie. Any Neurosis album!
Hahahahah not to nit-pick, but I think you spelled 'Classically' wrong this time hahaha! This Message Edited On 12.19.07

The fact that most of the songs on 'Vovin' have a slow build-up may put some listeners off, but it's really the level of quality here that shows Therion's true talents. Aside from the quite obvious classical influences involving pianos, cellos and violins, the guitar work and vocals are each handled very well. Song structures are experimented with and used to grandiose and sublime effect, giving off repetitive songs here, there and literally everywhere. I do prefer Therion as the 'classical' band, though their older material also shows some good work as far as musicianship is concerned.

hehe, I see where you're coming from. The first album I listened from these guys was Theli and then it was this one, so I didn't go through their change of style.

I love this one and I'm not even a big symphonic metal fan. It's that good.

"Clavicula Nox" is awesome. "The Wild Hunt" is such a fun track, too.
