I don't know about perfect, but yeah, I'd say Words is their best. Akerecocke's whole discography rules though.

Although may of the band's fans (including myself) prefer the dark, disturbingly twisted overtones of this album's predecessor, 'WTGU,DTGU', 'Antichrist' still aims and triumphs where most modern Extreme metal bands ultimately fail. Such beautiful meandering progression as on the extremely intense 'My Apterous Angel' and beautifully meandering 'Dark Inside' show. 'Promise' may be a little too repetitive for its own good, and 'Black Messiah' could be much more useful as an intro to 'Summon the antichrist', yet these ever-so-minor flaws are usefully forgotten when the band shows their talent for originality and forward-thinking musicianship. This is indeed a brilliant album by a band who should be much more popular than they are.

I'm really digging this. Pretty dark stuff, and not in the cheesy corpsepaint and church burning kind of way. Gonna have to

spin this a bunch to give it a fair rating though, I can tell already.

They're superb. Check Words That Go Unspoken first as I believe that is them at their peak.

I really love the vibe on this one! But there's something towards the end pulling this a tad down from the clear 5 from me. Same With Renaissance...maybe this spin will change things!

"Place your faith in sex and death

Rather than the wisdom of the divine

Have no pity for those

Who mired in prophet delusion

Content to be servile for a lifetime

It is better to be king for a day"

Yeah...this one has def some of their best tunes dude...spin it again. My Apterous Angel is so fuckin awesome! The tribal aspects on the album here "á lá Choronzon" are also a bliss. I have soft spot for Words as well, but starting to rather some tunes from this one and even Renaissance. Now you know this is pure blasphemy.
