Ugh. Now The Killing Tent is ripping my skull apart. Such a fucking lush tune.

Is the first track supposed to be a tribute to Om or something?

Got this album today, and i'm loving although i haven't really listened PROPERLY, as i had it on at work. one problem though... what's with the tracklist?!
the tracklisting on the back of mine goes like this:
The Ghost Writer
Indians
City of the Swan
Water
Atoll
Return to Gulu
Sea of the Dying Dhow
The Killing Tent
The Conference of the Birds
Indian 2
In Dead Palm Fields
i know the tracklist you have for hte review is right, because i've just checked shels' website, and the lyrics correspond. so i'm wondering what the hell all this crap on the back of my cd case is...? cuz several of those songs listed there aren't evenmentioned on their website!

I got this album yesterday and it really blows me away. The way they use metal and prog together to really make something beautiful is amazing. This album is excelent to say the least. The only problem with it, not much singing and the instruments don't add enough melodie to it. If you take Tera Melos it sounds like the guitars are singing along with no words, just notes.

So I finally got this. I'm liking it so far. It's no Pax Cecilia for me but it is still good.

The soundscapes created during the soft sections are amazing, but the heavy sections are rather underwhelming other than Conference Of Birds'.

I wish I was that cool. I was listening to this album a lot last month, perhaps I'll join chan in the cool ranks and order the special edition.

This is really awesome. Could you recommend me another band of this style besides The Pax Cecilia? Thanks in advance!

Good review, love this album. I saw them a few weeks back and they were amazing, the heavier sections have a lot more impact live than on the album.

i have the special edition, signed by medhi and most of the others, i got it when i saw them live and have been to see them twice since, i am also going to damnation and their camden gig in november, imho the best track is the conference of birds but closely followed by in dead palm fields and indian part2.
the vocals take a while to get used to however once you do, and learn to appreciate mehdi's voice, they just take you to a different world, a new world, one you'd need to explore rather than just listen to, this is the world of the underground prog scene, and shels are leading it at the moment

I really love how epically this album begins and ends. "The Conference of the Birds" and "In Dead Palm Fields" are great as opener and closer (respectively).
