maybe its cuz i haven't given follow the reaper the chance it deserves, but this is my
favorite bodom album. probably because i like Bodom Beach Terror so much (that
guitar solo, though short, rocks so hard! it made this album go from a 4 to a 4.5!
haha), but seeing as how everyone says their earlier stuff is awesome, i'll dust off follow
the reaper and give it a playThis Message Edited On 03.20.07

good review. this album, imo, is subpar bodom. the only two tracks i give any listening time to is angels dont kill and triple corpse hammerblow (mainly for the main chant of "triple corpse hammerblow!").
easily one of bodom's worse releases, but it does haf one of my favorite moments in a bodom song(s), when bodom beach terror transitions into angels dont kill. the quote gives me the chills everytime accompanied with the intro of angels dont kill.

Nah this album is Bodom's best. I seriously enjoy it more than FTR and Hatebreeder, there is no weak point to this album. I just listened to it again today actually...damn I love it.
If I had to pick the worst song, it would probably be Chokehold for it's lack of melody compared to the other tracks, but it's still fantastic.

I'm disagreeing with your review. Granted I haven't listened to Follow the Reaper or Are You Dead Yet? (although, I have heard some of the songs off them from the live DVD), I still think this is their best album. Sure, the songs do sound similar, and it doesn't have the black metal edge their previous releases had, but it's still a great album.
Angels Don't Kill, Needled 24/7 and Hate Crew Deathroll are the best tracks off it IMO, but they're all good.
Alexi Laiho has said that this is his favourite CoB album and Something Wild is his least favourite.

Alexi Laiho has said that this is his favourite CoB album and Something Wild is his least favourite.
But alexi also thinks blooddrunk is a great album...so...yeah...

The only thing I still like from this band is, ironically, Something Wild.

Not really.

this is pretty much average power metal with terrible harsh vocals. Another album were Alexi Laiho proves to be one of the most overrated guitarists of our era.

Yeah it is!
This album is overrated. Its okay, but its when they started taking in all the mainstream influence that would make albums like Blooddrunk awful
