Hmmm there really isn't a wrong way to dive into this band's discography. Violator's a pretty standard starting point but the next albums to venture into really depend on what aspects you like about the band most. If you want to go darker then go with Black Celebration next, if you want something less dark go with Music for the Masses, for something more in line with Violator go with Songs of Faith and Devotion or Playing the Angel next, something less polished songwriting wise and more industrial go with Construction Time Again

Blasphemous Rumours and Somebody are my faves here. Can't believe someone called this a "generic and uninspired" album because to me it's anything but that, different strokes for different folks I reckon.
