it just leaked in 320 btw

320 is the vinyl rip, has some pitch issues

Would not call Alligator a major step down from what followed at all.. just a slightly different style. Still a masterpiece in its own right

I'm sure this place is full of spies, and they're all after me

Didn't anybody, didn't anybody tell you, didn't anybody tell you how to gracefully disappear in a room?

Didn't anybody tell you this river's full of lost sharks??

Doof not sure if you were responding to my comment or not, but I said it was almost as good as Alligator, not their best since Alligator. Like if I were to rank their albums it'd be Boxer>HV>>Alligator>SWB>>>TWFM>>>>>>>>Sad Songs, which is still 4/5

the singles play so nicely in the context of the record yessss
|
| |
Agree, especially Guilty Party/Carin
|
| |
I feel the opposite about the production on the new joint, very thin and airy.. The last 3 albums had a warm lush sound.. you felt like having a good scotch.. the new one feels like sitting on the roof of your loft apartment.
|
| |
We're all listening to a Vinyl rip so I can't comment on the production but I will say I think SWB might be their most cohesive album

i'm underwhelmed after my first listen but that's expected with a national record

Album Rating: 3.5
I didn't try the singles. Was just gonna jam the whole album. Is it by the numbers National like this with a few electronics sprinkled in or a much different sound?

it's not so different from the previous material
|
| |
I'd say it's pretty distinctively different with classic National sprinkled in
