Do the people that don't like this mainly not like it because of the vox? Just wondering.

I havea very hard time with the vox. Musically it's outstanding, but the vox are really fucking poor.

'Musically it's outstanding'

How can 90% of the users on this site blank out vocals and not include them as part of the 'music'? If the vocal tone and vocal melodies suck to high heaven then that ruins the overall tone and melodies of everything else for me.

It's like they say a band is only as good as their drummer. If the drums suck then the rhythm section will suck and then that'll bring down everything else. It's the same with vocals - they'll poison the overall sound of the album (unless they use the vocals sparingly or whatever).

Vocals ARE part of the music. Who knew. 1.5.

It's like I said, I'm giving in to the sput love of virtuosity - I admit these lads can play their instruments very well.

It counts for very little but it's only fair to reflect that

Vocals are tought to overcome but they're not as obnoxious here as in their debut imo

Complaining about obnoxious vocals on a prog album is like complaining about harsh vocals on a death metal album. I'm not big on the vox either, but the music more than compensates. This is a fantastic record.

The vocals are great for what they are. They give all the craziness a bit more focus. Anything below 2.5 I don't understand, this is pretty objectively not shit.

I said about vocals not the entire album. Lots of people liking this album have it highly rated still not liking the vocals. Guess you missed that

"My oh my, what a tasty burger, I mean I don't like the look of that smear of shit over the bun but I'll blank that out and just focus on the taste of that juicy meat....mmmmmmmm"

I feel the vocals are as over the top as the rest of the music and fit well, and help further the vibe these guys put out of not taking themselves too seriously. I'd obviously prefer better vocals, but these are no deal breaker.

Complaining about obnoxious vocals on a prog album is like complaining about harsh vocals on a death metal album. [2]

...and there are plenty of killer vocal melodies here if you give him a chance
