Their current guitarist - he retweeted a Tim Pool tweet and liked loads of transphobic and homophobic tweets and now the band are blocking people asking them to address it.

Hnm this isnt a good look. If they dont address it and stand hard on it may drop the band. Homophobia and transphobia has no place in my weird little life. So while they may be my garbage popcorn band I dont want to support it in any way if they stand by this

They have addressed it though, the people getting blocked are the ones hurling abuse at them.
Who cares though band is dead, everybody in the band is a cunt, new song sucks, another half decade the air in their balloon will have deflated.

Nah Hollow Crown is a goated album.

they addressed it terribly iirc. im pretty sure they just onstage said like a blanket "architects dont discriminate against anybody" while the guitarist was right onstage with them lmao. like yeah sure buddy

“They have addressed it though, the people getting blocked are the ones hurling abuse at them.”
They didn’t, Adam did an “whoopsie, didn’t mean to do that” (like JK Rowling did before she went full on mask off Transphobe) and then the band did a super generic “We love you all” speech on stage that barely touched upon the issue.
They’re blocking anyone asking about it, even trans fans: https://x.com/misbegottenfool/status/1776318063673221240?s=61

Yeah until i see something better as an apology or addressing the issue of trabsphobic shit in a better more constructive way, i think im done with them. The change of sound i could tolerate as junk food,
The overt hypocrisy of a band that for nearly a decade championed political issues and allowing people to be who they want to be. As well as pushing back against controlling/fascist ideals or controlling governing bodies and religious shit thats the final straw for me.
Same thing as i commented on the single thread. The other thing is a band is a bussiness and the genre of metal/punk/hardcore are all born from the alternatitive

Recent controversy aside, which is very disappointing. Came to post not knowing about it :/
...am I the only one who thinks this band is just better than Bring Me the Horizon? Aside from the point that it's weird to say that Architects is copying one band by going more pop/mainstream, a tale as old as time for metal bands. lol.
I'm a big fan of Architects' earlier stuff, but also find the last two albums to be really catchy, well-written rock. They deploy their djent/metal moments really well in the service of their songs. The new song "Curse" also rips.
Idk... I'll keep enjoying this band, I think the last two albums are two of the most unfairly over-hated in metal bc of the change in sound. Especially FTTWTE, which has so many great moments.

Now Sam Carter's out praising/agreeing with Ronnie Radke…

Tim Pool is a great litmus test for shitty musicians with shitty views.
|

It's funny that it's always TIM POOL, out of all those shitty people lol
He's like, the dorkiest, most milquestoast, embarrassing-looking of all those hateful grifters. That beanie has to be cutting off circulation to his brain.
Band sucks. Their views sucking makes them even easier to ignore.
BMTH is better in every way

what did Finn do?
|
| |
Finn's on the "fiscally" conservative camp, but his wife is a known transphobe and a bit more open with having rightwing social views.
Finn views music through a business-first lens, so he's praised Ronnie before for being an innovator in the space. He's also heaped praise at "buttrock" acts for being being able to draw crowds.
To Finn's credit, he is extremely knowledgeable on the business perspective, but he very much mistakes "success" in a business sense as purely a dollar amount, and a signifier of something being "correct". His political views that he's allowed to see light are pretty dumb, although to his credit he has spoken up about racism and misogyny in the metal scene before. On the other side of the coin, though, he pretty much chastises any form of self-expression and has said some pretty ignorant stuff himself
