Hell yeah dude jam it hard. Listen to them in order for a real treat (PsychoBells to bath to lybm to Part The Second).

"I feel like no matter how much variety he can cook up it follows some of his compositional tendencies."
i think this is exactly the problem preventing me from ever becoming super invested in a lot of kayo dot's material. engaging and beautiful though it usually is, it tends to wander off for too long. i don't even know who he could collaborate with that would compliment his weirdness.
didn't think i'd walk away from this enjoying the interludes the most, but that is the case for now. i loved a lot of the other tracks too though, particularly: stones, bizarre flowers, and monstrously low tide.
really glad i actually took the time to go through this (finally!). anyway, i've been up all night and need at least a few hours sleep. thanks for the chat man

Bizarre Flower and Monstrously Low Tide are two of my favourites on here for sure. Interlude IV is probably what I'd consider one of the most stunning examples of musical composition pretty much ever in terms of accessibility, style, and originality.
Yeah for sure it's been good. Glad you got to jam a phenomenal album.

A few years back I would meditate daily to interlude IV.

lol i was going to get around to my fruit and bath today but i ended up waking up and playing this two more times. album is a masterpiece tbh. also listened to part the second and god damn. incredible

i havent jammed this
how much of this sounds like they aren't all beautiful?

some parts do. i mean, it still has that same intensity but there are plenty of sombre moments, which are the ones i prefer. some of their best melodies are contained within this album. highly recommended

Back to back is a lot of music to take in, worth it but its long
|

is this a continuation of bath? or just another album with the same sound?

They're meant to be listened to together but I find them just as captivating separately. Together is definitely the ideal way though.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I was hoping to. I'm hoping it'll grow on me quickly.

this and bath are tied for me, i think

Bath was significantly better on my first listen. I'll be honest, there were songs on this where I was asking myself "alright, what's the next song."

Both albums are 5.0s it just takes longer for some people to come to that understanding is all.
Jokes aside though, I think that lybm is a harder album to get into. bath offers something entirely different in every song, and while lybm does that too, bath just does it noticeably more, and as a result some tracks in lybm can feel like "better versions" of other songs, so that when you reach those "worse versions" it's understandably disappointing. bath doesn't really offer as much to compare between songs.

Which is why Bath stuck with me way more. I adore how unique and different the album is.
