It's a terrible porno masking itself as an artsy film. The film is so poorly shot and directed I can't even jack off to the sex scenes, which aren't even good either. Everything this film does was done better in Room in Rome.

Why that absolute garbage fire of a film won the Palme d'Or, one of the few film awards I still respect, I will never understand.

I won't lie, I have quite the dislike of that movie. It absolutely damaged the reputation of le Cannes and of the coveted Palme d'Or.

The direction is scattershot

The pacing is boring

The sex scenes are jarring and make it feel like two movies mixed into one

The acting isn't great, I was surprised I didn't need a hearing aid to hear them considering how hard they mumble their lines

The porn criticism was pretty much made by many others, including the original comics author. It is blatant pornography with artsy fartsy dialogue. My joke was that, it doesn't even do a good job at BEING a porn.

Labeling something that is not intended as porn as porn seems like an arbitrary line to draw in order to level a criticism. There are plenty of other movies that are as "pornographic" or more so than Blue Is The Warmest Colour. So is the distinction that if it is a "bad movie" with "pornographic content" then it's just "porn"? I don't think so.

Srry I worded it bad.

I never meant to say that it is a bad movie because it is pornographic. I meant to say that the film tries to pretend it is above porn, but it blatantly utilizes porn in some jarring attempt to convey the emotions of its characters without doing anything particularly substantial. My criticism being that it tries to be something it's not.

The Devil in Miss Jones is one of the greatest films made and it is a porno.

The director has repeatedly said his film isn't trying to be porn, in which I, and many others, would call blatant bullshit.

Armond's ridiculously stupid political opinions aside, the man is a genuine critic who makes valid cases for his ratings. Even if I disagree with some of them, he has a very pro-audience viewpoint on movies and I enjoy that he openly goes against the grain that has plagued film criticism for decades.
