We have somewhat similar tastes on some things I think, was just hoping it was more than a 4 from you. I haven't heard the
album yet still

Well, I am inbetween 2 and 3 listens, and here is what I think so far, if you are interested:
The lead guitar calmed down a bit and has more variety, and I feel like the rhythm guitar has stepped up a little bit and has more interesting parts. The vocals have a tendancy to still be kind of over the top though, and he just doesn't always sound so great when he gets in his higher register, but these are fairly minor nitpicks, and I still enjoy him as a vocalist. The drums kick ass, as per usual, and I just realized I have never actively listened to the bass in this band.

i agree on the vocals, he does this thing where he tries to hard to inject vibrato in places where it's not needed and it sounds bad

Ah, good breakdown Ecnal. I can pretty much foresee the problem with the vox and I'll probs end up agreeing with the two of you as well.

While I like the new album a lot (took a min to grow on me) and have a lil respect for them for really trying some new things, I just like this album a lot more, guess its just the fun factor I suppose.

They are just a solid 4 band for me all across the board so far.
I would really like to see these guys live one day.

I almost got to see them this summer, but I couldn't get out of work. I should have bought the tickets when I first found out and requested it off.
It made me sad.

ITO were awesome live, joey and zach were really nice guys too. I mentioned your reviews to them and they
were pretty appreciative of how sputnik has opened new fans up to them
Stolas and HTS were awesome too. did you get to see The Venetia Fair with them? they put on a hell of a
show
also saw some cool local bands. saw them in NJ

listened to this album for the first time fully the past few days (where I was really paying attention) and it's pretty awesome. it has a different feel than S/T which I liked. they like messing with the rhythms more here
I like most of the songs tbh, Hum of a Ceiling Light, Nuclear Towns, What We Had Was Never Love, Tag! No Bases, Frog in a Well, and Swimming with Weights. Swimming with Weights is one of my favorite songs by the band I'd say

I just wish Joey could keep his vocals under control a little better. That's really my only complaint with this band.

it definitely got better in the self titled, but Input. Time. Direct. is still kinda hard to listen to at times. the chorus...

after listening to this a lot more I think I prefer it to self-titled
it just has a better overall atmosphere/feeling imo. maybe I just feel like I relate with it more. I saw them live again and they were amazing as usual, their new guitarist is a fucking beast. joey and zach were swell dudes again and can't wait til they come back again so we can play some smash bros
