Havitetty being 2 huge tracks is what does it for me. Creates a sense of continuity that they've had on other songs, but not so much across the whole album. It's that double dose of fantastic instrumentation and thick atmosphere I was talking about. Been listening to this, has a pretty good balance as well.

Figured out the deal about the split. Still not confirmed but what I actually heard was in the review for Emyn Muil's album, the reviewer claimed that Caladan was doing a split with EM not Falls of Rauros.

Other than being epic black metal yeah they have their differences. Probably would've been better tho. Falls of Rauros > Emyn Muil

From what I've heard of EM they're pretty good too tho

Moonsorrow ey? well that's a band that I've criminally avoided for no reason in particular. will dutifully rectify this erroneous negligence at once.

Still listening and loving this album.

Anyone got suggestions for similar keyboard/synth based atmospheric/black metal? Windir, Caladan Brood, and Summoning are all I have so far.

Definitely check out Moonsorrow - Verisakeet and Gris - L'ame Enflamee. The Great Old Ones and Saor

might also be up your alley.

So are Emyn Muil, Elffor and Avathar. None of them are as good as Summoning, or even these guys tbh tho
