This review made me go back and listen to the 2nd half of glass bridge. That solo done on the low strings is something I'm yet to hear another band do.
Tosin and Javier are starting to go for a more melodic style in their soloing and are better for it.
And the drums are actually fucked. Matt is easily one of the best drummers in the genre right now.

Awesome vid bloc
This was a huge grower, I might've had this rated 3 at one point.

This sounds great on first listen. Not liking as much as Mammoth's Deviations, but then I'm only on my first listen. Think this is a great as TJOM or s/t.

Yeah that Mammoth album needs more attention

you wouldn't consider ectogenesis memorable?
fantastic record!

I'd rather quote "Private Visions Of The World" and "The Glass Bridge" as memorable, Ectogenesis felt like the weakest song is this.
But the real highlight remains "The Brain Dance".

Ectogenesis is probably my fav here. That drum solo at the end is ridiculous

Relistening to this now, didn't really give it much of a shake initially even though I like AAL just busy with other stuff i guess
Pretty surprised how few ratings this has on here, did this album just get very little press? Or maybe a lot less people use sputnik now. It has less than 1/3 of JoM's ratings

I fell in love with the Brain Dance the first time I heard it, and I'll always remember the moment I listened to the full length version once the record came out... Tosin's solo towards the end of that song is stunning! I don't know if I've ever felt so emotional listening to such technical prog, lol.

I mean, JOM came out 3 years ago, this came out like 8 months ago, give it some time.
JOM>Self titled>MOM>Weightless.
The kick drum really irks me on this album, sounds so artificial and stands out way too much in the mix. There's some really good songs on here but as a whole it falls into the "OMG GUYZ SO TECHNICAL". rather than making interesting songs,

I disagree. This is their most organic sounding album. Particularly the drums sound great.
Yes, they are compressed but not mechanical.
