This album is so damn good. Probably tied with Trollskau for personal favourite folk-sy atmos bm album of all time.

April fools joke was that they were going to change the band name to Bodd because a candle company named Saor was suing them.
Ees just a joke.

Haha totally missed that news. Probably could have been believable since Saor is the second name anyway

Oh thank god I saw this on the front page, I've been trying to remember what this album was called for at least a year now. Will relisten ASAP

^^^I think that's exactly what pushes this past Roots on the awesomeness scale.

The drums on Roots are pretty sweet though. Highland Lament has such a cool ending.

Didn't know Lunn was on here, but yeah he absolutely kills it

Sounds like he's playing a 5 piece rather than his typical bigger setup.

Based on first listen, drums are much better here, but I kinda prefer the Celtic melodies from Roots better. Nothing tops the last five minutes of Carved In Stone.

Agree about melodies on Roots. Though prefer Aura on the whole, and drumming is definitely a winner. Just hate the kit sound; if the word "tinny" better suited another set of drums, please come forward.

The drum sound is raw in the best way for me. Kind of like that classic slam or grind core snare noise that some people love and others hate. The guitars in this are my only real gripe with the album. Their production sounds off.

Can anyone recommend Celtic stuff similar to this? I'll definitely check out Fuath.

Absu - Tara has a strong celtic aspect. But mostly in the lyrics.

interestingly, there's really not a lot like it. Not done as well as this is, for certain. Helps that this sounds like Celtic Panopticon, in a way

The drums are considerably simplified, but they still sound great.
