Holy hell. I guess the critical community hates one of my favorite albums from my teenage years. I get that Craig's vocals are inconsistent at times (and the pre-breakdown note on "Baby You Wouldn't..." still makes me cringe to this day), but I love the guitar work on this album. It's easily my favorite emo/scremo/post-hardcore album from yesteryear.
Maybe the scene was in its overcrowded glut at that time because the reviewer sounds exhausted from the redundancy that started to occur when post-hardcore was on its way out of its golden years.
Or maybe my music taste is just shit. Oh well.

I actually enjoy Craig's vocals quite a bit, but I could never really jam this whole album. Agree with some of the guitar work
totally forget what song it is, but "TAKE THESE, MISUNDERSTANDINGS, AND THROW THEM BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM" love the guitar on that part
This is certainly better than their follow up though

I didn't know One Day Women Will Become Monsters was about King Lear until I read the play a few months ago.

Honestly for me I did like them but I heavily associated them with someone I hated who was shitty to me, but the association has finally broken away and I can just enjoy the music for what it is. I know it's not fair to the music but it can happen. I have no prejudice against any screamo post-hardcore kinda stuff in general though I like it all usually. There are random bands that get unnecessary hate here though.
