BGWtB is fantastic but TDPDH was a huge disappointment. "Phantom Limb" and "Choke" were the only highlights I could glean from it - the rest ranged from good ("Hollow," "Scalpel") to bafflingly dull ("Pretty Done," title track, "Voices," "Pretty Done")

TDPDH was just too damn long. Chop off 5-10 minutes and it would have dragged less

I think the core of the problem with TDPDH was that the songwriting had a tendency to get repetitive and dull, occasionally worsened by poor lyrics. The length was just an exacerbating factor

Of the DuVall stuff, I've only checked BGWTB and it wasn't bad however to me I think there's just no way I'll ever enjoy it as much as the classic Layne stuff. Still need to check TDPDH.

BGWTB is better than s/t IMO.

I just love the sludgy tone of the self titled album, for me it's excellent. Whereas I just can't seem to get into the DuVall stuff. And I don't know why exactly, since he's a nice singer and all. Maybe it's the loudness war going on there.

Duvall's a technically good singer though obviously not nearly the creative force Layne was. However BGWTB is a stronger album than s/t because it's so much better written. S/t often feels directionless (to me) while I have no such qualms with BGWTB.

I too love the s/t, for many of the same reasons as mr. cardoso. Only reason I don't like the DuVall stuff more is because of how obnoxious the production is. I can deal with some loudness, but good lord those albums are much too loud

years ago two parents went out to dinner a few hours later the babysitter called and asked if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids room. The dad said "get the kids out of the house and we'll call the police. We don't have a... clown statue." the clown was actually a killer that escaped from prison 10 years ago. If u don't post this on ten photos, the clown will be in your bed with a chainsaw in his hand at 3:00 am
