Not on earth. You have free will to do whatever you want in this life. Your actions here determine your eternal fate

According to the Christian faith….

I was thinking Rust Cohle's quotes to be very fitting here

"If the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of divine reward, then, brother, that person is a piece of shit - and I'd like to get as many of them out in the open as possible."

It's weird as hell to rationalize the most evil actions as mandated by God.

@Fear Mr.Pizzolato did a masterpiece of a script with that show. Best show ever for me, and that quote Fear is one of my fav quotes in the whole show.

It happens to be very real in debates with many christians. In that regard I think religion could be actually protecting us from some absolutely empty shells out there... I've had many debates with christians where this question always arised: "Without God, why should we act good?" I'm always left shit-scared and speechless when I hear that question. Is really this person telling me the idea of a divine punisher is the only thing keeping him/her from being a rapist/murderer/criminal of any kind?...

It's also a quote I love from the show and the dynamic between Marty and Rust was perfect. Too bad the show fell to shit after that season.

Yeah Fear, Woody Harrelson and Mathew McC gave the acting of their lives. They are very good friends off cameras and I heard they may be actually brothers irl so maybe that could be why the dynamics were so sublime. It went downhill in the 2nd season but I actually liked the 3rd one.

@smok Are you afraid God will punish you for actually liking this album? You know he sees through your eyes, skin and brain according to the Bible right? Giving this a 1.0 while thinking it's actually a 5 won't save you my man...

Btw some bm bands with a christian message do kick ass. Drottnar, Antestor, Crimson Moonlight, A Hill to Die Upon, Frosthardr... I saw some of those live actually.

What a normative ethics can derive from in the absence of God has been a genuine philosophical problem for a long time, doesn't mean Dostoevsky was a low-key sociopath

I think the political basis for moral nihilism is inherently absolutist, which leads to totalitarian inclinations. Man should strive to be his higher self, but not destroy himself in the process; rebelling against the absurd is rational, but the absurd Camus and co speak of is demiurge-like and we do not know it, as we do not the unconscious in psychoanalysis.
