Not a lot comes to Devon (although there's a fairly strong underground metal scene in Plymouth), particularly Exeter, but I'm super fortunate that Patrick lives in Totnes (about 35-40 minutes down the road) and he's just started doing local gigs as of this year.
This album is absolutely my polesitter thus far, I find myself reaching for it far more than anything else released this year (and there's been some really strong releases).

Here's a little taster for anyone going to his upcoming acoustic shows

Patrick was in predictably fine form last night as I was sat right at the front in my 40 Watt Sun t shirt like a little fanboy nerd.
Colours is probably my least favourite from this album, but he opened with it and a live setting really took to the song to a different level. He then actually got his neighbour to come up and play cello for Reveal which was just insanely beautiful.
Other highlights were an acoustic version of Carry Me Home from The Inside Room and a cover of Lioness by Songs: Ohia who I'm currently checking out and likely to also become obsessed with.

Colours is amazing

I’ve listened to reveal, colors. Should I carry on with this record or scope a different one first?
Reveal is fucking incredible btw. Blown away

If you're digging those songs, I'd check this in full first and then work your way back through the discography. All three albums are worth checking, but clear differences in style for each.

Nothing quite matches Reveal for me on this album, but several tracks come extremely damn close. Absolutely spend some serious time with this album, then go backwards.
Bought this on vinyl from Patrick when I saw him play a set a month ago - don't even have a record player but it comes with a bonus disc with alternate versions of Reveal with Emma Ruth Rundle and Behind My Eyes with Nicola Hutchinson.

Reveal is the album's peak for sure, I think that's perhaps why it didn't quite have the staying power to stick with me all year - a lot of the other cuts are similar in tone and execution to the point where it all become a tad homogenous (but without the same payoff)
Quality album, regardless

Having listened to this a lot, I still think my first two favorites are tops: Behind My Eyes and The Spaces In Between, but there are really no at all weak tracks.

First half of this was super sweet, second half got a little samey for me but this just needs time I think.

Great review. I gave this a go and unfortunately learned that slowcore moght just not he fire me. It’s got some pretty parts, but it ain’t nearly beautiful enough to be worth the sluggish pace. Needs higher highs and more gratifying builds.

Fuck I like post-rock/indie stuff as much as the next guy but this shit is boring as fuck men.
Have always loved this band (and Warning) but this is a huuuge dud imo.

Lol. Sounds like you don’t like it as much as the next guy in that case.
