Can't leave Dust N' Bones out of such a compilation.

@Doof, that's an interesting list and I like the concept of looking at the pacing and using AfD as a template, but I'd tweak it some. And also try to get the most out of the 70-minute CD format.

1. You Could Be Mine - It has a great intro and build which would pretty much be the ideal way to get the album started the way Welcome to the Jungle did AfD. Being a single doesn't hurt either.

2. Right Next Door to Hell - Uptempo rocker to build some energy

3. Double Talkin Jive - I don't really like the song, but I conceptually like the Spanish guitar transition idea into Don't Cry, so I'm keeping it.

4. Don't Cry - Third track was too soon for a ballad, so this is a better place for it.

5. Locomotive - Gotta have one of the funk metal songs on here because it was the '90s. I also realised that I like Locomotive more than Bad Apple.

6. November Rain - I'd have liked to put another rocker here, but that would have meant all the epics ended up on Side B and made it far longer. Plus, it's not a bad idea to close out Side A with a big hit.

7. Civil War - Best way to kick off Side B, agreed.

8. Don't Damn Me - You're right about the album needing some pace at this point, but I think Don't Damn Me is maybe GnR's most underrated song and far superior to Perfect Crime

9. Bad Obsession - Underrated and fun song that brings some energy to Side B.

10. Knockin' on Heaven's Door - One of their biggest hits and pretty beloved outside of the US. You could probably flip a coin between this and Yesterdays or Live and Let Die, but I'm putting it in simply because it was the biggest of the lot.

11. Estranged - I don't think a song can bill itself to be anything, but this a classic one way or another and probably the perfect note to end the album on.

'Live and Let Die' and 'Knocking on Heaven's Door' should make the cut on an improved Spaghetti covers comp

I thought about that, but if Knocking on Heaven's Door had been on Spaghetti instead of Illusion then it might not have become a concert staple the way it did which would have been a shame.

Don't damn me and locomotive are probably my favorite non single tracks from the use your allusion albums.

Coma is just absolutely stellar and makes me wonder where they would've gone if they didn't implode

"makes me wonder where they would've gone if they didn't implode"

That is actually an interesting point.

Like, the illusions are nowhere near as consistent for me as Appetite, but the highlights are stellar and the sound is much more varied

My one album set would be smth like:

1. You Could Be Mine
2. Shotgun Blues
3. Yesterdays
4. Live and Let Die
5. Locomotive
6. November Rain
7. Civil War
8. Right Next Door To Hell
9. Dont' Cry
10. Don't Damn Me
11. Pretty Tied Up
12. Estranged

You could squeeze Dust'n'Bones somewhere there I guess and Coma is great and all but I think Estranged, Locomotive and November Rain are already enough as long track go.

This is honestly one of the best rock albums imo. But yeah, I like to think this album ends at You Could Be Mine.

Live and Let Die was what drew me to the band. I loved it when it came out, had I and II on tape but I was never a massive fan.
Band was bloody huge back in the day, essential part of growing up.

The ending solo of Locomotive (Complicity) is probably the best music Slash has ever made. Actually, the whole ending is the best thing (or at least near) the band has done.
