Still one of the best releases this year, come back to it quite often

I return to this one for a full listen every few weeks but for some reason it keeps having less of an impact on me. Also the clean vocals are way to flat for me half the time.

The clean vox absolutely kill this for me. Could be so much better otherwise

Well, this was impressive. Going to listen to the rest of their jams.

I think they still need to find a way to fuse they’re sounds but it’s definitely improving. They should embrace the avant-gard

Not feeling this as much as the other two albums. If they're going to keep doing this back and forth dance between black metal and jazz, bring back the blackgaze because it just works better.
|
| |
At this point I'll be happy if they just survive the war.
|

yo this is fucking amazing

This was pretty much my AOTY last year. Not my usual cup of tea and it took some growing on me but I wound up listening to it a loooooooooot and I don't think I ever stopped loving it more with every listen.

Phoenix is probably the highlight for me.
Can see how the vocals could turn people off. Can be a little too abrasive at times.

Silence Circles is pretty bitching too. Had to hear those transitions an extra time.

They're absolutely some of the most gut ripping harshes I've ever heard, but in a way that hits really smooth and nice for me, like, harsh tones like the Enslaved guy were way tougher for me to get into but these immediately had me like "oh fuck yes." That first vocal line on Leviathan grabs me by the butthole every single time.
I fucking hate new wave music and the cleans being very reminiscent of it def took me a minute to get behind but they largely grew on me and I think they're used to nice effect on the album.
