hmm, disagree on this one. Ever since Green they've seemed almost pathologically eager to please

Weezer were suggested to me as a funny choice for me to cover on my ‘Band of the Week’ list on RYM

I want to get to the bottom of whether I’m right to blame this band for everything - basically all the ‘empowered dweeb’ semi ironic rock music that has come out since and defined the generation after mine

This album does seem like it’ll be ‘guilty as charged’ - first song is a love song to Peter Parker, already done a little sick in my mouth

Yes they are undoubtedly to blame for almost all, as you put it, "empowered dweeb" semi-ironic rock music in the past 20 years, but the real kicker is that they're somehow even worse at it than most of the bands they inspired



I'll chalk it up to TMBG and Devo both also being influential in that field
