Apparently Anthriel sounds like this and I like how Anthriel sounds. Also big Dream Theater fan but when I heard this band more than 10 years ago I didn't care for it and never revisited it.

Mixing is poor but melodies and performances (especially vocs) are top tier to this day. Try either this or Twilight, if mixing is a big issue for you go for Paradise Lost

Production on this slaps, never got the complaints for it. Nothing sounds thin or plastic.

I feel like on this album in particular, there's a lot of issues with clarity at times. Also personally I find Allen to be to quiet in the mix
