The lyrics imo are just not very impressive in any sort of way. "Tongue of God" just sounds very uncomfortable to me and doesn't quite fit. "Reasons" is a victim of bad structuring honestly, just a bad song overall.

The instrumentation is far from spectacular or even notable really. I compared it to Leprous, except Leprous has better atmosphere and a better vocalist. This guy could be better but the songs limit his range.

But you got this 5'd and I respect that shit, just ain't ringing true for me my man

Mars, you seem a good kid and all but dude - it's like saying Mike Patton is an average vocalist because he doesn't do much on Sol Invictus

early PofS are undoubtedly one of if not the best prog band of the 00s

Good choice, LunaticSoul. That vocal performance would not seem out of place on Broadway, it's absolutely astonishing.

Never said he was a bad vocalist overall. But he's nothing notable on this.

Is this a good starting point for these guys? Checked them out like ten years ago but never paid too much attention to them.

Have to agree, this is probably his weakest and least memorable vocal performance. He's a beast otherwise, but on this album there weren't many interesting vocal parts.

Yeah, he's just a very good singer on here, while he's one of the best ever on Remedy Lane. Far above most of his peers, including Leprous (as much as I like them as a band)

Einar is great, but lacks the passion and the sound of ''i've been through too much'' that daniel has.

I think the reasons why I like Daniel more are way more simple, it's just his diversity. It's well-known that POS are a concept-based band (haven't done one album without one), so the performance has a narrative dimension (acting, if you will), and he's amazing in all his "roles".
