your "original point" was simply that this guy didn't listen to enough of the "good" pop-punk bands to be able to say anything about the genre, which multiple people have responded to and exposed why that is irrelevant.

Oh man it was just dying down and you had to drop that big ass wall of text on us?

Your original point is that the band sucks but have made enjoyable stuff in the past.
I don't think andcas has argued for or against that so far.

"dear god, I hope you raise the child to use logic properly, honestly. Reading your posts, it worries me that the kid is going to grow up not knowing how an adult conversation sounds."
I DON'T WANT MY CHILDREN GROWING UP TO BE ANYTHING LIKE ME

I knew you would respond like that hep, I wasn't actually attacking your parenting skills. Take off the blinders. Remember, "bro I was being facetious."
I was just saying that I would expect that someone who is an adult with a family would act like less of a baby on a pop-punk thread on an internet message board. Can't we just discuss this difference of opinions re: the review without turning into children that group together based on the bolded read number at the top of the post? You still haven't backed up any of your negative reaction to this review, but have just spat out the same handful of talking points over and over. The reviewer doesn't understand "real" pop-punk, fine, I'll even grant you that point. How does that make this review horrible?

Well, dimsim, discussion is discussion, right?
Everybody is always complaining that we never talk about music enough on Sputnik.
Which is ironic because when we do talk about music (in general), we people get seriously pissed off in arguments when and
only if not everyone agrees with each other. We can only completely avoid hissyfits if everyone agrees.
But if everyone agrees on every thing then what's the point of having discussion in the first place?

there's nothing in this review that makes the reviewer sound ignorant about pop-punk. there are bits that could be seen as a difference of interpretation between you and him, but that's it.

anyway whatever this is silly and you're right (dimsim), time to stop dropping walls of texts. i've made my points so whatever. I haven't even heard this album yet, I'll come back when I have something to say about it.

I'm not trying to argue with andcas, he just kind of connived his way into the conversation. And my original point was that this review makes the reviewer sound ignorant of the genre at large, and I facetiously named dropped the queers because they're gods in the pop punk community and bands like the wonder years are a joke
I am going to say this again for Hep cause he probably missed it: I honestly think The Queers and Descendents and House Boat are in an entirely different playing field to The Wonder Years. there's clearly a lot more of a mainstream aesthetic in guys like Yellowcard. I mean, no one ever compared Killswitch Engage to Converge, right?

@ Hep Kat -- thank you for that civilized post. I now understand where you are coming from. have you thought about maybe putting those thoughts into a counter-point negative review for this? I'd be interested to read that.

I think I understand Hep's problem with this review. I would dispute that it means it's poorly
written, but the reverence he has for the more serious segments of the genre weakens my "thesis" in
his eyes. I think it's worthy of a discussion, but I don't think that problem makes the review suck
necessarily.
edit: not sure how I'm retarded, but thanks for the compliment on the review I guess.
