I know the discussion is finished, but just wanted to throw my quick 2 cents in. I think the problem whole opinions on music can't be wrong argument is that not all of the criteria individuals use to judge music, whether consciously or subconsciously, are subjective. Sure there are subjective things like emotional impact, or just how certain song elements resonate with you, or the personal context into which you place and album and how that context affects the impression the album makes on you. However, there are also many objective criteria that can and usually are used to supplement decisions made on the quality of music, e.g. technicality, originality, production values, execution, historical context. Later on in time, you can also judge the influence the album had on later releases and if and how it helped shaped the musical landscape of the future.
