Agree with Sinternet about EDM being lyrics-based. disagree. not to say lyrics don't matter, but there are things far more important than the lyrics when it comes to edm, in general. but to be fair, a lot of this borders on being plainly electropop and not just edm.

The lyrics here sure don't matter

Apparently these dumbasses stole some basic elements of their songs. Main riff of Closer is from the piano part of Over My Head by The Fray. Two of the band members got even credited for it retroactively, probably because people started noticing. Furthermore the verse flow is stolen from a verse Fetty Wap's 679. The drop Don't Let Me Down is a slightly slowed down version of the melody in Get Ur Freak on by Missy Elliot. If that's not enough, compare the intro of Don't Let Me Down and the song Poesiealbum of Samy Deluxe. Only one note changed to make it sound different. Although this one is a german artist and it's unlikely they heard of him but you never know.
So to wrap it up: All of their own songs already sound the same anyway but even they are uncredited copies.

idk how anyone can give this a 1 when it has closer and don't let me down. even if the other 3 tracks are complete dogshit, those two are pretty redeemable

someone explain to me what's so bad about this. closer is fucking epic, and don't let me down has beautiful verses. the others don't do much for me but they're not glaringly awful by any means. people are treating this like it's worse than nickelback and i'm just super perplexed

for real though, this is just average-good radio pop. nothing out of the ordinary here awful lyrics aside. hard to believe it's inspired this much ire.

imagine dragons and most of the current crop of rock radio is worse tbh
