A 5 star album through and through.
A lot of people say Teethed Glory and Injury is their best album, to which I say Blasphemy!

call blasphemy all you want, it's still superior in just about every single way

Completely diagree, this is superior in most ways, aside from the experimentation on Teethed Glory and Injury that they tried to achieve.

Musicality and bleakness combined. This is a fine album from one of the best black metal bands I know.

Mammal is still my favorite, but I like both of the first two so much more than the last one

if you google "Altar of Plagues Mammal" the bandcamp stream through Profound Lore is the first result.

Mammal's definitely closer to this than Teethed. It's really murky, sludgy, dark, and murky again. It's almost evil-sounding, but not in a raw, kvlt bm way: it's more that the album revolves entirely around death and it shows.
IMO it's on a similar level to this one in that the first two songs are spectacular, especially the first one, and the last two songs are kind of ok but not incredible. Teethed is better than both.

Neither of the other two albums have Neptune is Dead, so they automatically lose.

If the rest of Mammal were as good as that song it'd be an easy 5/5. Unfortunately, Feather and Bone is a 4/5 and the other two are kinda meh in comparison. That's why I love TGaI so much: unlike White Tomb or Mammal, it's consistently awesome from end to end. Sure, maybe there isn't one song that's quite as fantastic as Neptune is Dead (well, A Remedy... or Twelve Was Ruin might take that), but the worst song on TGaI is maybe a 3.5/5 and every other song is between 4/5 and 5/5.

The only thing I really liked about the album were a lot of the vocals, I wasn't a fan of the music itself. I really don't like industrial, and most of the album had too much of an industrial sound going on.

And I just re-listened to Burnt Year, and if that's the best track on the album, then my chances of ever getting into it are literally zero.
