Yeah, fun album, definitely more focused than the last two
I'd still rather listen to Shade Empire anyday tho

Gotta admit I've listened to this way more than I expected.

it's not bad, although a bit too "Nightwish-oriented" for my taste

I still say Alpha Aeon Omega is an awesome song. Not only is it practically perfectly written, but it also encapsulates that sort of joy and relief like no other song of Dimmu's does. Kind of the track to play when you find out you are not the father, or other things it just feels right to be happy about

Didn't know it was suitable for that specific purpose, but yeah, I can see it.

Alpha Aeon Omega is a great song agreed.
I'm two ways about Eonian. On one hand I feel like all the songs would be awesome live. On the other hand I kind of wish it was a condensed EP that cut out a lot of the extended choir parts such as on The Unveiling which puts me to sleep.

PERSEVERANCE DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING
UNLESS IT'S FOR ETERNITY
I guess this is why I'm still listening to this.

Their lyrics have gotten tons of shit over the years for being more subtle than the average black metal band's and being tons of pretty words for saying absolutely nothing, but they definitely have a few memorable lines

Definitely.
It was a good band to grow up with. My personality is basically based on Norwegian BM lyrics.

I've recently found out that some really mighty BM bands are in fact Swedish. And they're often much heavier and more brutal than their neighbors lel

It would be a diminished existence.

Well, I know Shagrath has Chrome Division. As far as I know, they fell out of love with the creative process.
I really like Eonian. I think the production is amazing, it uplifts this album so much. The scale and grandiosity is hair-raising. Obviously not close to peak-era Dimmu, but I very much enjoyed the approach to this piece of work.
It's such a shame that, when I saw Dimmu, the show was so phoned-in. I'd say 55% of it is live, the rest is samples and backing tracks. Plus so little stage presence. They've never recovered from losing ICS Vortex.

Yeah, that's what happens when a symphonic band gets too much money and gets carried away with the recordings. Idk if it's worse when bands use tons of backing tracks or when they leave out parts because they don't have the personnel available to perform it
