"What was cringeworthy about it?"

i know this is a late response, but.

mostly the lyrics and how it kind of sounded like a linkin park song.

Emmure's later albums like Slave to the Game and Speaker to the Dead admittedly have some fantastic tracks

I guess I should avoid this then. I've never been a big fan to begin with

Honestly, I listened to that just now and it would've been alright if it wasn't for Frankie's absolutely atrocious vocals. That guy has to be the worst harsh vocalist i've ever heard.

"Emmure aren't the abomination that everyone makes out tbh. They aren't good, but they aren't the worst music going around. There's much worse (sadly)."

I agree with this honestly. I just can't for the life me stand them just because of Frankie. I've shared my opinions on him many times by now and I just cannot stand him.

its rare for band/musician with an extensive discography to have put out nothing at all that isnt at least decent yes

but you can still say emmure as a whole have been pretty ass

I mean, I would say the same about Limp Bizkit. I like a few of their songs. I like the band as musicians, especially Wes Borland. I just think Fred Durst sucks.

With Parkway Drive, I think the entire band is talented. This album is a hiccup, IMO.

"musically i thought it had a lot going for it"

I almost feel like you might reconsider you 2.0 rating Game?

Crushed, Vice Grip, Writings on the Wall, Destroyer and A Deathless Song all worthy imo.

Bottom feeder too (Sounds like it came straight from Atlas, minus the rap)

Its just such a low rating! Usually your ratings are spot on.

I'm sure this album has enough good tracks to be considered above average. The change of pace was a shock but this has way more hooks than Atlas, and much more variation.

I definitely don't want them to go back to their older style. I mean... it was only really one style anyway. The stylistic diversity on this record prevents this from getting monotonus.
