prob wouldn't have continued with sputnik were it not for that, i wonder where my music taste would be now instead Believe it or not this was actually my intention in doing that back then. I remember thinking that there were probably plenty of users with similar tastes to what I used to have that would leave because of trolling/elitism and miss out on the good parts of Sputnik so I tried to be nice to new users.
I had limited tastes when I joined so it wasn't so much that this site completely changed my tastes, but more that it was an outlet to explore a lot of different stuff I wouldn't have known about or given a second thought to otherwise. It helped me develop my tastes more than anything else since I had pretty limited knowledge of most genres.

Really? Well, it clearly worked for at least one person haha. You'll always be one of my favorite users for it :-). I almost feel like I should do the same but I get the feeling most people are scared off so fast that it's a pointless endeavor.
And yeah your music taste seems to be pretty steady (your user name's still your favorite album haha) but mine changed drastically. Sputnik is just a great way for me to discover new music, I just listen to a lot of what's hyped up and ended up liking quite a few of them (listened to TDAGARIM and Cities just because they had pretty high ratings). And I hardly can listen to I&I all the way through, it'd be a 4 at best if I relistened to it at this point in my life, and I remember when I used to be a huge Red fanboy haha.

@toxin: Don't get me wrong, it's changed a lot. I just meant I didn't have very much taste to change other than some mainstream rock (and I really don't listen to that much of it anymore), since I hadn't even been serious about music for very long. I hadn't heard any prog prior to joining this site and now that's one of if not my favorite genre.
Lakes I'm actually surprised you still like Comatose that much. Pleasantly surprised, of course, since that album rules.

@ties I get you, I suppose then the same would have to be true for me considering I listened to mainstream rock and nothing else. I just diverged a bit differently into a different path haha.
And yeah Comatose is great, I never understood the ridicule of the band. Before Awake they were never bad
