I don't feel like I have a good way to talk about the new one or why it would be better than other music that ostensibly sounds a lot like it but man I just wanna play it over and over again

still surprised you like this that much though, would benefit so much from a 6 or 7 track cull

if we are gonna engage in an actual discussion ill say the only track ive ever felt the album could do without is A Lizard State but familiarity and excessive listens have made even that song seem irreplaceable even if its my least favourite song. i dont know how much you've actually listened to this album but for me it was one of those ones where as much as i enjoyed it as first, familiarity was important in my full appreciation of the album as a whole.

i dont like the new album as much as this, altho it really isnt even remotely the same. it is kind of a hybrid of his king krule stuff and his production under Sub Luna City. its great and i love it but its much more subdued and modest in a lot of ways.

i decided recently i love this and i want to sit on a dock in the summer and stare out at the water longingly as the sun sets and listen to it and do other gay shit like that

Potsy - I've only listened to the new album twice but already I think it's more to my liking. This one I listened to a lot about a year ago, didn't hear about him before then.

This one has songs I really enjoy like 'Foreign 2', 'Out Getting Ribs', 'Cementality' and 'Neptune Estate' but the bare vocals and production approach is too much for me over 16 tracks and I can take or leave stuff like 'Lizard State', 'Has this Hit?' and the way too long 'Krockadile'. 'The Noose in Jah City' from the EP would have been one of my favourite three or four songs on this if it'd been included too.

The new album he filters his vocals on occasion and never uncomfortably strains them like he does here and I personally like those choices. I prefer him working with some actually interesting beats too.

the krockadile doesnt even push 5 minutes lol

Noose of Jah City is great yeah

also he never strains his vocals here, he has a unique style but his voice is powerful, u may not like it but he's objectively a good singer and he does not strain here.

" I prefer him working with some actually interesting beats too."

thats stupid tho because the new album falls directly into the niche of beat music where this is basically an alt/indie rock album. this doesnt have beats, it has songs.

i can guarantee u his next King Krule album will not be like the Archy Marshall album. they are under different names for a reason. that is an outlet for an entirely different approach.

He could deliver a King Krule album I enjoy a lot more, I think there's room for him to tighten up his approach compared to this but I understand that's just my opinion.

I was really saying I think the approach on the new album accentuates the elements I enjoy in his music/voice.

I still think this is good just can see him improving.
