shadow's rec is also great

unfortunately there are only a handful of albums in that vein floating around out there
not quite the same style as the albums discussed here but you could also check out sacrilege - lost in the beauty you slay

that and mirrorworlds were two of my earliest melodeath albums so i have a lot of love for both

gates of ishtar - at dusk and forever

apophis - down in the valley

sarcasm - buried dimensions

without grief - deflower

fertilizer - a painting of annoyance

excretion - voice of harmony

I remember listening to the track "Dark Reflections" by The Moaning and really liking it, but I don't think I've ever listened to the entire album.

also obvious choice, but the first two at the gates full lengths are essential and wild

god dethroned - the grand grimoire (wouldn't say this is purely melodic death at all, but then again, neither is intestine baalism)

sakkuth - from wretched blood (wrote a review on this one way back)

armoured angel - angel of the sixth order (more death/trash, but definitely with a healthy dose of melody)

deceased - as the weird travel on (same as above description)

I only listened to that Hyperion album once a few months ago, but for some reason I'm not remembering DM in that one, I'll have to listen to it again
