Review Summary: Imagine a nailgun, and now imagine shooting yourself with it. And now pretend you enjoy pain. That is what this sounds like.

In the same vein as Death, Cynic, and Atheist are technical death metal bands, Martyr is a technical death metal band. But since they only had one standout-among-metal album, Warp Zone, they were never matched up with the "big 3" of tech death. Let me tell you something though.

They should be.

Warp Zone is just as good as albums like Focus, Unquestionable Presence, and Symbolic. Every riff packs a great punch. The playing is extremely tight. Nothing can describe the tightness of the playing other than this: Imagine the drumming, guitars, bass, and vocals are a nail gun. Imagine putting that nail gun in front of your head. Now, every riff of the ensemble detonates this nail gun. You are shot in the head. Pain and death is good in this situation. At the rate this album goes, you will receive about 30 shots per second.
This album is extremely solid, with no filler, and no bad riffs. There are no stand out tracks. It flows right through to the end, and should be listened to as an album. For the most part, shouted vocals not using the standard death metal techniques, as seen on this do not tickle my fancy, vocals similar to Gojira or Meshuggah. For this album, however, they feel right at home. My personal favorite song on this is Realms of Reverie, however I suggest you listen to it the whole way through, at least once, before dismissing it.

Thank you for your interest.

While this is longer than my last review, it was not an attempt at a long review. I am sticking with my style of short reviews, if you want to read about the band's info, google it.
