2 of 2 thought this review was well written

The Mad Butcher EP released by Destruction, was intended to show off the band's new members, Olli (drums) and Harry (guitar). These two members made a large impact in Destruction's sound. Harry, being a classical guitarist, changed the band's tonality and lead structure drastically, while Olly was a jazz drummer who changed the time structures around. Original guitarist Mike started writing more technical riffs, admitting that he started listening to more technical bands such as Watchtower and Fates Warning. This started a new era in Destruction's sound by becoming more technical and is a part of the short period of time that Destruction had two guitarists.

Band Members-

Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer - Bass / Vocals
Mike Sifringer - Guitar
Harry Wilkens - Guitar
Oliver "Olli" Kaiser - Drums

Song by Song Analysis-

Mad Butcher - The original song version of the song can be found on the Sentence of Death EP from 1984. This version is cleaned up with a lot better production and the band members play a lot tighter. It opes up with a classic riff that starts the cacophony of riffs that ensue later in the song. This song is very fast, and is the song Destruction is most well known for. Probably the reason it was re-recorded. The structure is a bit different than the original version of the song. The drum patterns are different and there is an extra solo after the third riff is introduced. There is also a whole harmony section between the guitrists that was not in the original. Amazingly thrashy song. Bang your head as if up from the dead!

The Damned - Being a Plasmatics cover, you would think that it would be punky. Well, it's not really at all. They totally changed the song. It's more of a power metal song, with an epic feel to it. Schmier's vocals really stand out. Overall, it's a well done cover, even though it sounds nothing like the original.

Reject Emotions - The first new song from the band since the new members have joined. It starts off with a clean intro with some intresting lyrics. Then it bursts out into some pretty technical thrash not all that removed from Coroner. There is an awesome lead guitar section. There's literally like 15 riffs in this song. One of Destructions all time best songs.

The Last Judgement - This is a classical outro guitar piece done by Harry and Mike. It is pretty nice, and an intresting listen. It also gives you and idea of where they were about to go with their sound.
