Release Date: 2005 | Tracklist

I'd always liked Aussies hardcore acts but for some reason I'd never gotten into Carpathian. Anyway, my friend gave me a mix cd and he put this whole album on there. It was so good that I listened to it almost everyday. Then i found out they've got a new album coming out! but back to this cd.

It starts off with an intro which is a guy talking about political moshing. Then it breaks into "Don't have my back" which is not their best but still a great, hard song.

Then comes the one of the best song on the album (in my opion) "Holding hands is for girls" starts with a little drum solo that sounds like it's done in someones garage and then it hots you right in the face with a great guitar riff and brutal singing. There is an amazing breakdown and then a chant that sticks in my head. A Great song.

After that, you think it can't get any better.... then it does. If looks could kill is probably the most metalcore song on the album including some lyrics sung by I Killed The Prom Queens guitarist.

Next up in "Snareroll" a great song with one line that is all I have to say "You won't forget me"

Now we have "Kiss the Rings" it does sound a bit familiar but still a great track. It's personally one of the worst on the album but it's still great, the albums just absolutely awsome.

"Tommy Dollars likes my band" is a good choice for a finishing track. Tommy Dollars is a guy in melbourne who loves Carpathian apparently.

Anyway, that's it. I hoped you liked my review and for anyone who likes hardcore or even metalcore, i strongly encourage you to buy this album. The stand-out tracks on the album would have to be:
Holding Hands Is For Girls
If Looks Could Kill
Snareroll

My overall rating of this album is a 4.5.

This review needs some work. Instead of saying that a song is "great" or "worst off the album" you should describe what each track sounds like. Such as instruments, vocals, and emotions.

You need to add the album cover, which can be done through your profile.
I would take Zebra's suggestions to heart, consider editing (also through the user profile) and getting more information in there. Nice first effort though, you'll only improve with time.

You should try working on grammar and spelling. Other than that, at least you put some effort into your review and didn't review something that's already been reviewed thirty billion times. Good job.

a) "Carpathian" is the EP. "Nothing To Lose" is the album, coming out on Resist Records on the 24th April.

b) The guy talking on "Mosh", the intro on "Carpathian" is Michael Moore.

c) You could have included a bit more information on the tracks, just as Zebra said. Personally, I think saying whether a track is good or bad isn't good enough for a review.

Otherwise, good to see the review up here, well done. There should be more local Australian hardcore/metalcore up here.

I'm looking forward to their full length.

I don't mind these guys. Have yet to hear the album tracks, but they put on a good live show and have managed to score some good supporting gigs.

WOAH so many little mistakes here...

carpathian are at teh forefront of Aussie hardcore.

during "if looks can kill" its actually Crafter from i killed the prom queen (ex singer).

live these guys give a great and responsive live show. the crowd gets right into them and chanting sections, like "tommy dollars likes my band" the crowd just devour.

this EP is the first installment. and the next installment "Nothing To Lose" released May 8th is grenerating ALOt of hype.

personally this album is great. and the next will have to live up to expectations.

reveiw does need some work... this album deserves alot more praise... not criticism

peace

This is a pretty good hardcore EP. Got some awesome breakdowns, and ya gotta support the local aussie talent. Anyone got Nothing To Lose yet and it going to review it?

hmmm interesting to note... but it still holds VERY VERY similar tyes to original carpathian then anything elese.... more metally in some respects... but i believe it is a pinacle aussie hardcore album....
