Review:
I am a huge fan of Thursday and they are one of my favorite bands. After picking up Full Collapse, I was an instant fan. Of course, I picked up last year's War All the Time the day it came out. After listening to both those cds, I still craved more Thursday. My friend had a CD called Waiting that his friend had burned him and one night, while searching at a local Borders, I came across Waiting. I bought it on the spot and brought it home to listen. After a full listen, I was, well, I just didn't care for it. I'm not going to say disappointed because I didn't expect much from the CD. It starts off with the haunting "Porcelain" in which Geoff and Tom scream, "When people die, they take a piece of us with them." The CD continues with the only real hit off the record, "This Side of Brightness," a melodic song. Next up, the haunting Ian Curtis in which Geoff sings "We heard Ian Curtis kill himself again, In your bed," and later on he yells "Love has torn us apart!" Then comes "Introduction," an instrumental. It continues with the melodic "Streaks in the Sky," then comes my favorite song off the album "In Transmission." Next is "Dying in New Brunswick," in which Geoff sings "I'm writing you this letter, to let you know, things are not alright!" I live in New Jersey, proud home of Thursday and it was cool to hear them sing about the local town of New Brunswick. "The Dotted Line" has nothing really special. But the CD climaxs with the beautiful "Where the Circle Ends." Geoff speaks while melodic, interwinding guitars sound behind him. So there's really not much to say about this album. From here, Thursday moved to Victory Records and released the screamo masterpiece Full Collapse. If your a Thursday freak like me, Waiting is a good album to have. If not, its a CD you could afford to skip.
Score: 3 out of 5
Porcelain 5 out of 5
This Side of Brightness 5 out of 5
Ian Curtis 4 out of 5
Introduction 3 out of 5
Streaks in the Sky 3 out of 5
In Transmission 5 out of 5
Dying in New Brunswick 4 out of 5
The Dotted Line 3 out of 5
Where the Circle Ends 5 out of 5

Good CD. But it's not screamo. Look up a thread titled "REAL screamo" in the pop-punk forum :thumb:
| | | for the love of god use paragraphs!
| | | Waiting is my favorite CD by them..I just think the singer sounds the best on it...

| | | Good review although I wasn't going gaa gaa over the CD I think its a good example of what Steve brought to the table afterwards and what mystery Bill did. (I forgot his last name..)

| | | Thanks. I also have this Thursday song I downloaded called "Evacuate" and it says from the album Tomorrow Seems So Hopeless. It must be their local album or something.
| | | It might be a fake, too. I downloaded the a song that was labeled as being Thursday a while back, and it was in actuality Open Hand.
| | | No, this was definitely Thursday. I downloaded a couple other songs like "The Dream" that said Thursday that ended up being fakes. The only Thursday song I don't have now is Ny Batteri (a Sigur Ros cover) which was said to be a bonus track on War All The Time but I don't think it is.
| | | I don't care much for this CD. Maybe because I got it after Full Collapse, so I was kind of expecting more.
| | | Same here.
| | | good cd, thursday is awesome. But i think i still like war all the time and full collapse more though, but not by much.
| | | its a good cd, but full collapse is 10x better
| | | who sings "The Dream"? I'd like to hear some more stuff from them cause that song is awesome
| | | Open Hand does the Dream, they are pretty good. Anyways, Introduction and Streaks In The Sky definately deserve a 5 out of 5 in my opinion. Introduction is such a great lead-in, the way the tempo speeds up at the end at flows right into Streaks In The Sky, I love it.
| | | I like this album, not as much as WATT or FC, but it has some very good songs on it like: Ian Curtis, Dying in New Brunswick and Streaks In The Sky. I haven't heard it completely though...

Agreed.
This wasn't one of my best reviews, and I've changed my mind a bit. I still think it's the weakest Thursday CD because they were in the early stages of development and hadn't really come together as a band yet. But there are some great tunes, "Porcelain," "In Transmission," "The Dotted Line," "Streaks In The Sky, "Where The Circle Ends." Maybe I'll redo this review...

the dream is an open hand song
then theres evacuate...(probably spelled it wrong)
which is a cover some old school band (the name slips me)
it is a thursday song also...it was on a cover cd for that band.
Ny batteri is a sigur ros cover and it is availible on REAL music store.
i do not think it is on a disk though....
other then that...i do not believe there are any un-released thursday songs.
Digging: Thrice - Beggars | | | I had "Evacuate," I don't think it's a cover. When I play the song it says it's from the CD Tomorrow Seems So Hopeless, which I am assuming was a LP or EP they released when they were a local band, on account of the poor production and premature sound. There's a song on WinMX I saw called "Mass As Shadows," but I wasn't able to download it. I have confirmed it is a Thursday song, though. And finally, "Ny Bateri" can be found on the Japanese release of War All The Time.
| | | i love this cd. streaks in the sky is my favorite off it. to me, its a definite 5 out of 5. i think it is an amazing song. i think the lyrics are great, especially the end, "potrait of a man who stayed his face is folded up and greyed but there's something in his eyes that tells me this is the life for me."
| | | "Waiting" has some great songs, but the part on that song where he goes all 'EVACUATE!!!' is just bad IMO and makes me cringe.
