Divine Intervention is probably the most underrated Slayer album. The year is 1994 and the metal scene is not in vogue at the time. Grundge was taking all the place. Beside that, metal receive complaint about violent story and murder who was motivated by the heavy music. Slayer was one of that band. THe band have to start again with a new drummer: Paul Bostaph. The record is pretty short like reign in blood does. Now let's review this good record.

1-Killing Fields

Paul Bostaph probably wants to be accepted by the fans so he starts the album with awesome crazy fills and fast double bass. The riff is pretty thrashy. You can hear the slayer trademarks. The song get a bit slower in the verse with some time signature. Paul Bostaph does an amazing work on that song. Then the song get faster. I love Tom vocals on this song. Some of his line will get you: In the speed of a moment life stand still now you're standing in my killing fields. Classical slayer soloing as usual. A great song.

2-Sex, Murder, Art

This song is pretty short. Starts with a unusual slayer type of riff but with a lot of double bass. The classic thrash works is back in the verse. The Chorus is nice. I love the lyrics. A good song in overall but not the best.

3-Fictional Reality

The begging is pretty good. Great riffing again. The chorus is really catchy because of the way Tom is singning.A lead is featured after the first chorus.Then a big breakdown comes in. I love the lead work beside it. It's the kind that is not regular in slayer at the time. Then an awesome riff end it up. The main riff comes back at the end then a last chorus and a solo.

4-Dittohead

The Fastest song of the record. It starts with a lightning fast riffing by Kerry King and a fast fills by Paul Bostaph. The main theme of the song is about the society at the time which is pretty interesting. The songs featured a classic guitar duel by Kerry and Jeff. Jeff does the first one then kerry play a great tapping solo. It's one of the best Kerry's solo. The song ends like it starts. Fast riffing and crazy drumming. A good Song

5-Divine Intervention

The longest song of the record. It starts really slowly for a slayer song. The riffing is good and pretty evil. Then a clean guitar part is there. Really cool to hear slayer use clean guitar. The song pace is pretty slows but the band play really hard. It's really weird. A lot of solos are featured on the song. One of the best guitar song of the record.

6-Circles of Belief

Double Bass!!! It's a regular way for slayer to start a song. A lot of nice lead are in this song. The guitars use some effect for the first time in slayer history. A cool riff with some flanger effect makes it sound awesome.At 1:55 a awesome part comes in. Crazy solos again and extreme drumming.

A good song. A cool intro. Then a cool thrash riff comes in. The verses are pretty slow. The song speeds a little bit at 2min. I love this riff. Great riffage again and regular solo madness.

8-Serenity In Murder

One of the best song of the record. I love the intro riff. The main riff is pretty intense. I love Tom Voices on the verses. Then the regular voice is back at the prechorus. A cool lead again. Another Verse/Chorus part then the song spreed with a fast solo and the main riff is back to clase the song. A short song but really catchy.

9-213

An other awesome work by slayer. It starts with a clean guitar intro. Then one of the guitar plays an evil rythm behind the clean guitar. Amazing drumming again. The song is pretty evil. The riffage is really intersting. The verse riff is an awesome thrash pieces. The pre-chorus and the chorus features some of the best slayer riffs. The solo is awesome. Tom is pretty scrary on that song.

10-Mind Control

A fast Thrash intro. Not the best slayer song at all but an OK one. The riffing and the drumming are nice but the song doesn't get me at all. I think slayer have a lot of better closing songs: Seasons In The Abyss, Rainning Blood, Spill The Blood.
