Foxy being Foxy and separating the fans of a band from the fans of a certain musical style. So much going on. Like an expanded and improved Heart Behead You so probably the first Foxy album to not be a total departure from the last, but there's still also plenty of new stuff and damn if those refinements aren't good to these ears.
To me it's DBN ≥ Burn > THBY in terms of recent output.

I miss the Flamingo Trigger/Introducing days so much. Self Titled is also a very fun album. Church wasn't great but I didn't viscerally hate it like everything after that.rMusically this might not be a miss but I absolutely can't stand Nally's voice anymore. He's unlistenable for me here, nails on a chalkboard, literally everything he's singing sounds like dogshit and I couldn't get halfway through this.

Not everything here lands. But they took some BIG swings on this album. They even somehow made the "raw" live feel of the last few albums work much better here. Great to see this ban re-energized and trying new things! This some of their best work since the self-titled album in 2010.

Fundamentally a different band then they were during their golden age, that is undeniable. However, out of all of their swings in the "Foxy 2.0" era this is easily their strongest, both on paper and in execution. From the gorgeous opening orchestra that allures listeners in right down to the expansive (almost exhaustingly so) tracklist the album is full of weird fuzzy distorted ideas. Most of them work too, which is even more surprising. Sure, corners should have been cut but considering how much works, I think they slide by that problem just enough to really enjoy the ride.
