| Summary: Fat Wreck Chords revives the hardcore side of Rise Against but still leaves the good melodic right where it should be. |

Rise Against, on vinyl and it’s only being pressed to 5000 copies, how can I resist? This 2 song EP brings Rise Against back to Fat Wreck Chords after a 3 album stint with Geffen. Although they did come back for a couple songs I sincerely doubt they will come back for their next full length. This EP which was only pressed to vinyl comes only as more of a collectors type for those serious Rise Against fans out there. I was excited to order this but after getting it I realized it was maybe more than just exciting for the fans but maybe for the band too.
One of the tracks off this record is called “Grammatizator.” This song really brings me back to the days of Revolutions Per Minute because it really helps me remember who Rise Against were before The Sufferer & The Witness. It’s fast paced and full of energy just like you want your Rise Against to be. This one clocks in at just over 2 minutes so it’s the perfect length for a good hardcore/punk song. It offers more of the scream style singing that Tim used during the first 3 albums and the style he used during his days with The Killing Tree. The second song, “Voice Of Dissent” is a great example of the same material that came out during the last 2 albums by Rise Against. Twelve seconds shorter than the previous song, “Voice Of Dissent” is a song that rectifies Rise Against for what they are now transforming into.
Like I said earlier this is more so a collector’s item when it comes to buying it. If you can find it download both of the songs and give them a listen. The more fast paced “Grammatizator” gives hope for some older Rise Against to become popular again but “Voice Of Dissent” is a really good addition to the Rise Against catalog as well. Considering that both of them are b-sides of Appeal To Reason they pull both of them off really well and leave the listener trying to decide which one would make better material for the next album.
