3 of 3 thought this review was well written

I think we all know our history on Napalm Death right? Good. But you may not know what happened after 1987. During the tour of Scum, they lost their bassist. Shane Embury (The ugly shaggy looking guy), filled in the slot, and is playing with Napalm Death to this day. The Napalm Death we heard on the first half of Scum, is gone.

Line-Up
Bill Steer – guitar
Shane Embury – bass
Lee Dorrian – vocals
Mick Harris – drums

The release of 1987's Scum was something we have never before. These guys pioneered grindcore. They came back into the studio with practically half their members.

Just like Scum, From Enslavement To Obliteration doesn't hesitate to rip your skull off. The production (IMO) is alot better, giving it a more crisp and thick sound. Lee's vocals aren't even close to what they were on the second half of Scum. It's a full blown death metal growl, painfully throat-shredding. He also does these shrieks that make me laugh, because they sound so funny.

"Evolved As One" is another of those wierd Napalm Death openers, and it doesn't lack any creativity. Just repetitive. It flows perfectly into "It's A M.A.N.'s World" which features those funny shrieks. Just like Scum, the songs are never relenting, allways pushing and shoving. There are solos, creative, but don't come here looking for a shred solo. Call it agressive, hell yes. Way more brutal and agressive than their previous release. Any song will provide enough for a death-metaller, thrash-metaller, or almost any fan of brutal, fast-paced music.
It features sane moments in dabbles here and there. But if you're in an agressive mood, look here. If you're ready to slice someones head off, look here. If you're simply mad at the government, look here, because of the political influence. Harris is simply nuts at drums, throwing in fills, pounding the living hell out of his poor drumset. Dorrian's vocals are a focal point, indefiently. Yelping, shrieking, growling, and desperately yelling.

In a few ways, this album lacks. The chain-saw-like guitars are usually drowned a bit, playing super-fast riffs. The vocals follow a simple patter (except for a few exceptions); Growl your thoat to shreds, wait a second to recharge, and then growl some more. The bass, also in Scum, is on a fuzz distortion, usually clearly heard for intros. But other than that, there's hardly any recognition. Dorrian's growls may turn off some people, due to his grinding yelps and growls.

From Enslavement To Obliteration deserves a; 4.1/5

I'd be surprised if you make it past the first five tracks withought your ears bleeding. Good luck, and remember; THIS IS NOT FOR THE CASUAL LISTENER.

Songs to check out;
"It's A M.A.N.'s World!"
"Lucid Fairytail"
"Retreat To Nowhere"
"Unchallenged Hate"
"Display To Me"
"From Enslavement To Obliteration"
"Inconcievable"
