2 of 2 thought this review was well written

This album is a live-recorded double cd which contains some of the yet greatest songs Dave wrote before his arm injury. Dave’s voice is not at its peak in this album, some timrs it sounds like Dave is trying to catch his breath while singing. Degrasso throws sometimes in a few long drumfills which is added in She-Wolf, very annoying in my point of view. The drum fills are bad and uninteresting but situations like this are rare. Otherwise it sounds very good except that Ellefson’s bass is a little weak in a few songs compared to their previous records.

The songs are both old and new, from Mechanix to Peace Sells to Hangar 18 and so on. Some of the songs are played in a faster tempo compared to the original tempos, this is clearly heard in A Tout Le Monde. Holy Wars is much better performed than it is in album version, in the album version it has those tiny stops in the riffs which is played short after the intro section.

Recommended Tracks
The tracks I can think of recommending is Tornado Of Souls, A Tout Le Monde, In My Darkest Hour and Holy Wars. The rest of the songs are neither good or bad in any way but these are the best sounding tracks of the album. A Tout Le Monde is great because of the clear semi- acoustic intro and when the fans sings along, it is slightly turned up in pase but it dosen’t ruin the song. Remember that this band plays a very technical and unique style of thrash metal and Dave has to play guitar and sing which is alot harder.

Pros
Good mix of songs
Clear recording
The instruments are loud and clear

Cons
Dave’s voice
Jimmy’s drum sections

Final rating: 4/5

The Line Up
Dave Mustaine – Lead/rhythm guitars, vocals
Al Pitrelli – Lead/rhythm guitar, backing vocals
David Ellefson – Bass, backing vocals
Jimmy Degrasso – Drums

I don't like megadeth that much. Dave's vocals are awful. I love the cover art for this cd though.

i've got used to dave's voice, i gotta say i actually like it now! obviously jimmy's drums are never gonna match nick menza's in ability and style, but hes not as bad as you say. although dave's vocals aren't totally amazing on this recording, it has to be said that the only song he REALLY fucks up is Train Of Consequences. He actually sounds drunk on that one, with all the words slurred together!

Overall, a good album, and i agree with ur four star rating Dethtrasher.

i bought the dvd version of Rude Awakening today, it's pretty sweet. I like Dave's voice tbh, my only problem with it is that Al Pitrelli isn't a tenth as good as Marty Friedman

Al Pitrelli is an AMAZING guitarist! If you listen to his solos, you wilol notice that a lot of them were copied pretty well note for note. This Message Edited On 10.26.06

I first got Youthanasia and I was hooked after that, you can try Peace Sells, Youthanasia, CTE and of course Rust In Peace.

How can you give an album a 4 if you think there are only 4 good songs in it... Killer cover.
