I recently brought this album after I brought and liked 'Good Mourning' and 'From Here To Infirmary'. This album has Glenn Porter on drums along with Matt and Dan with their usual instruments. This album combines 'Maybe I'll Catch Fire' with the 'I Lied My Face Off EP'. This album is very good with their usual, unique style and sound.

1. Keep 'Em Coming - This song starts off well like a catchy, punky intro, which sets the song up in good stead when the bass and drums kick in. The bass in this song is good and the rhythm Matt plays fits well. The repetition of lyrics with slight alterations that is pretty usual in Trio songs. The lyrics are good on this song and fit well with the style of the song along with the tempo of it. (8.5/10)

2. Madame Me - Again, a good intro played by Matt and again picks up when Dan and Glenn come in. The lyrics in this song are good and so is the music. The verse riffs and the chorus riffs fit together well. Another well written song, musically and lyrically. (8.5/10)

3. You've Got So Far To Go - The first song which is sung by Dan and doesn't disappoint. The lyrics are well written and the musically is layered well which the bass playing the same riff from the intro throughout the verses and when the tune changes during the lead up to chorus fits in well. Another good song. (8.5/10)

4. F**k You Aurora - This song is too slow for my liking although the basslines and drum beats in this song are good for the style of song it is. The songs tempo is too slow compared the first 3 songs which hook the listener in. (6/10)

5. Sleepyhead - The guitar riff intro played with distortion makes this song what it is along with Matt's melancholic style of singing. Once his singing kicks in, Dan takes over with the distorted riff on his bass, which is good. The drums in this song are good and the lyrics ain't half bad. The change in tempo in the middle of song when just Matt and Dan play is good and when Glenn comes in again and it picks up restores the song to it being one of the best on the album. (9/10)

6. Maybe I'll Catch Fire - Title Track of this album. Good intro to start off with. The verses however lack enough actual music although the lyrics are good. Average. (7/10)

7. Tuck Me In - Different style of intro from their usual upbeat and quick intros. The bass in this song is good like most of his bass riffs on this album and Glenn's drumming is good. Shame they only made one album with him on drums. Good song. (8/10)

8. She Took Him To The Lake - Starts again with the usual upbeat, punk intros. The verses are good as the lyrics and music compliment each other well. Although this song deals with a guy unable to get over his first love, the usual mix of a cheesy pop song. However, the choruses when Matt and Dan sing together is vintage Trio and the mixture of an interesting riff and a complimenting rhythm mixed with dark lyrics also makes this song good. (8.5/10)

9. 5 3 10 4 - The usual fast intro with a good bass riff and good drumming. The lyrics sung with the same temperament of 'Sleepyhead' makes this another good song from the album. (8.5/10)

10. Radio - One of the greatest Trio songs ever! The guitar intro is one of the best Trio intro and the opening lyric 'Shaking like a dog s*****g razorblades' hooks the listener in. The lyrics carry on with a good standard and the music is also good with Dan playing some solid bass and Glenn as usual with a good steady beat. The chorus is a good one to sing along to. A superbly written song with clever lyrics and riffs. (10/10)

The enhanced version of the CD has these next 4 songs on:

11. This Is Getting Over You - The rhythm behind this song makes the song what it is. Glenn's drumming behind this is superb. Dan's bittersweet tone is good for this song and the chorus' of 'Drowning girls/myself is a game I play' show how he is feel about getting over someone. The music is generally good although I would expect more for the great bassist that is Dan Andriano. Nevertheless, this song is excellent and when Dan sings 'This is getting over you' with Matt singing 'I'm not tired of being alone' is ingenious and probably the best part of the whole album. A song, which is great musically (even though it is a fairly simple riff and rhythm) and lyrically and helps get you over someone, what more could you want. (10/10)

12. I Lied My Face Off - Average, probably the worst on this album. It's OK but does lack musically as the riffs aren't too challenging although Glenn's drumming is yet again superb. In spite of the music, the lyrics are very well written and Dan's pent up anger is shown in this song. (7/10)

13. Snake Oil Tanker - The bass line in this is great, how can he play something so difficult so fast. This along with Glenn's super speed drumming makes the song one of the best on the album. The lyrics are good. Only criticism, only 1.24 long. (8-9/10)

14 - Goodbye Forever - Ironically the last song on the album. Like the previous song, Dan's bass line is so good. Matt's singing is good and the lyrics are good with a great chorus. The music is good, the lyrics are good, great song. (9/10)

This is a good album. The musical riffs in it on both guitar and bass work well in their respective songs. The mix of Dan and Matt's vocal are also, which makes the album and the band so good. Glenn's drumming is good on this album and as I said, it is a shame he didn't do anymore with them. If you don't have this album, buy it. 4/5

this review, overall, is very well written. i only disagree with you on two songs, 'Fuck You Aurora' and 'I Lied My Face Off.' i just think these are a couple near-highlights of the album.

the only thing i really need to correct you on is the fact the Glenn Porter was the first drummer of the band. he did the drumming on Goddamnit (the debut full-length album) and also on the S/T album. other than that though, nice job!
