Adam Fisher is a god of turning the most inane and incomprehensible lyrics into something beautiful. Yes, even moreso than Jon Mess.

This is just annoying to listen to, at least for me. It's original and all, it's not rlacking ideas, it is just annoying and does not give me any emotional response beyond that.

Pretty big evolution in technique from their last album. Sadly it's a bit more clumsy. Asleep Next to Science was awkward in a small degree, and was an overall charming record for it. In this EP, the charm is lost as entire songs feel unfitting, both for the band and the genre(s) they experiment with. The change in tempo at the end of the first track does make me want to give this a 3, though. It almost saves it.

"Picked Apart By Time" really is a killer song. It builds upon the subtle creepiness of Asleep Next To Science, the tension latent in tracks like "Lost At Sea". It's also sludgy and understated, two things ORBS seem to do quite well. But I can't help but worry a bit here, because this thing- EP, single, whatever the hell you'd like to call it- lets me down pretty much everywhere else.
